A four week series:
This a gentle movement class which uses the ancient art of belly dance as a way into conscious birthing, and as a means for centering self through motherhood and beyond. We will journey from root to crown using movement, music, and meditation as a way to keep the body, mind and spirit grounded and feeling great. Belly dancing is a beautiful way to relax and unwind, while having fun, staying in shape and connecting with other mamas!

The art of ‘belly dance’ has been used throughout the ages as an assistant for birth, as well as a helpful way to strengthen the pelvic floor, uterine and back muscles throughout pregnancy. Come learn the story of this ancient dance form, and how it connects to the movements of labor and birth. Explore and deepen the bond between you and your baby through the gentle and powerful movements this dance form has to offer. Together, we will journey into creating sacred space and intention for your birth, as well as find the support of other mothers to be!

“Belly dance is the birth dance. It prepares pregnant women for birth. It is known as the most ancient form of dance, from a time when women, fertility, sexuality, and birth were revered.
The hip circles and figure eights of belly dance help the baby to get in the best position for birth–head down facing your back with their chin tucked. The chest circles, belly rolls, and hip shimmies allow the parts of your body that are most actively involved in birth to relax and let go.
Belly dance during pregnancy encourages active birth. It helps you connect to your essence. It prepares the body for labor. It gets you into the flow and rhythm of birth.
Belly dance brings focus and awareness to the pelvis, hips, pelvic floor, breasts, and belly all areas that need awareness in order to birth and nurture a baby. It develops strength, stamina, flexibility, and gives you a light cardiovascular workout.
You will develop confidence, pride, and mastery of your body. Dancing gets you out of your head and into your physicality/sensuality.

The Soul of Belly dance~ a sacred dance workshop
Based on the book “Grandmother’s Secrets”, as well as from the ancient roots of Goddess Lore and wisdom, this workshop is a dance experience into the realms of this sacred art form. Tap into your own internal mysteries through rhythm and movement, exploring your inner connection to the divine through the empowering elements of belly dance.
We will touch on:
the essence of movement
history and lore of belly dance as a sacred art form
the healing aspects of the dance
finding self esteem and your worth through bodily expression
fun and play through the reflection of your dancing sisters!
Jasmin is a dancer, healer and mother of 2, both born naturally, one at a birthing center and one at home. As a professional Middle Eastern dance artist, she used belly dance as a way to stay strong both spiritually and physically during her pregnancies. Along her journey, she discovered the deep connection that women have to these ancient movements, and saw how they relate to the natural flow of the body, as well as their connection to birth. She continues to teach and dance today, as an inspired mother, wishing to pass on the sacred blessing that this dance form has to offer, as well as the gift of bringing women together in an empowering way.
